A Little Bit About One of Our Product Lines; Kevin Murphy

One question that we get in the salon is why or how we decide what product lines to carry. There can be a number of different factors involved in the decision making that range from what the clientele demographics are, the price point, to the performance of the products themselves. We proudly carry Kevin Murphy products in the salon for a number of reasons. If you haven’t heard of Kevin Murphy before, here are some of the reasons about why we love it!

Kevin Murphy Product Line

Kevin Murphy is an Australian hair stylist who began his product line out of the need for products that would perform the way that he wanted them to during his photoshoots. He took his philosophy that hair products can perform exceptionally well and still be nourishing for your hair. Out of this philosophy he came up with the brands tag line of “skincare for your hair”. Now, what does this mean exactly to you? It means that every product in the line is weightlessly designed to deliver styling performance, strength and longevity, as well as nurture the hair and protect it from styling and environmental damage. By combining scientifically proven results with the best natural ingredients available, Kevin Murphy products provide you with the tools to recreate high fashion hair even at home.

Sustainability

Sustainability and ecological initiatives are at the heart of Kevin Murphy as a brand, and as a person. In an effort to lower the companies carbon footprint, they have scoured the world for companies that utilize micro cultivation, organic growing processes or ecologically sound harvesting techniques to guarantee the highest quality natural ingredients that are also ethically sourced. Some of the ingredients that are utilized in the product line are Mango and Murumuru butter, which smooth down the cuticle and soften the hair. Orange Blossom, Baobab, Bamboo and Peruvian Bark add weightless moisture to the hair, while antioxidants from Kakadu Plum, Orchid, Lotus Flower and Desert Lime aid in reducing breakage and repairing chemical damage.

Dedication

In recent years the company has also tackled the issue of plastic waste head on, by converting all of the plastic packaging to recycled ocean waste plastic (OWP). This is just one way that the company puts its money where its mouth is, in its dedication to reducing its impact on the environment. Living in Fort Lauderdale we all certainly spend our fair amount of time at the beach and on South Florida waterways, and unfortunately we see how much plastic waste ends up there. We see the harm that plastic does, and reducing ocean waste plastic is something that is important to us. Not only has Kevin Murphy taken this step to help the environment, but the entire line is also sulphate free, paraben free and cruelty free. Kevin Murphy also dedicates itself to aiding charities that focus on human issues as well. Some organizations that the company supports include The Climate Reality Project, Wings of Karen supporting breast cancer research and Culture is Life which aids in the preservation of Indigenous peoples culture.

Being able to support a company that has so much invested in environmental and philanthropic efforts makes for an easy choice, but when the products are top notch on top of that? There are no question why we love Kevin Murphy!
